As a passionate advocate for children affected by abuse and trauma, I lead several initiatives to speak for the silenced voices and ensure these children's experiences and needs are clearly heard and addressed.
Speaking:
I serve as a voice for children who have suffered abuse and trauma, delivering my message of hope and healing to diverse audiences including civic and community organizations, boards, church groups, and schools. As a keynote speaker for fundraising and other events, I seek to motivate listeners to action. After each presentation, survivors—both children and adults—often thank me for shining a light on their stories. This responsibility and opportunity fuel my commitment. If my message would resonate with your organization, please contact me to discuss speaking opportunities here!
Strategic Partnerships with ANCAC:
As the official State Ambassador for the Alabama Network of Children's Advocacy Centers (ANCAC) and a member of the ANCAC Legislative Committee, I am collaborating directly with the Executive Director on several projects. I also educate the community concerning these vital, nonprofit agencies and their comprehensive services for abuse survivors and their families. Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) are safe, child-friendly facilities that bring together law enforcement, medical professionals, mental health providers, abuse survivors and their families - at no cost to them. Legislative Advocacy:
I championed initiatives with legislators to strengthen and expand laws
allowing traumatized children to testify via video or Zoom, as well as increase the age limits in Alabama for video testimony. I am thrilled to share that this critical legislation was successfully passed into law in March 2026. This landmark reform protects vulnerable young witnesses from additional trauma and allows the original testimony and age of the child to be seen firsthand in court. The result is a safer space for children to share their experiences truthfully.
Additionally, I am working to secure increased government funding for Child Advocacy Centers across Alabama. These organizations currently receive only 33% of their operating budget from government sources, forcing them to divert precious resources to fundraising. With needed funding increases, these centers can focus on their mission of providing free counseling and comprehensive support services that can transform the healing journey for abuse survivors and their families.
Media:
My advocacy extends through media partnerships, including multiple television news appearances, magazine features, newspaper articles, and digital publications that spotlight issues facing child abuse survivors. I maintain a dynamic social media presence focused on abuse prevention, education, and supporting resources, reaching thousands with actionable information. Children's Book Series - Evie Meets Jaggy:
Newly published in 2026, Evie Meets Jaggy is my debut picture book, written from a child's perspective — because I am one who has lived it. The story follows a young girl arriving at a Children's Advocacy Center feeling afraid and uncertain, meeting a kind counselor, and finding courage through an unexpected friendship with a stuffed snow leopard named Jaggy. Written in age-appropriate, trauma-informed language, the book normalizes the CAC experience, models resilience, and gently reassures young readers that they are not alone and that they can do hard things. Each book is paired with a signature Jaggy comfort animal, creating a complete survivor-authored comfort package now being donated to CACs across Alabama.
